SALT – The Natural Spa
Modern salt therapy has its origins from the salt mines and caves of Europe. While miners worked, micro particles of salt were dispersed into the air. This created an ideal environment for the miners, who experienced remarkably good health, a reduction of respiratory problems and noticeably beautiful skin. The public took notice and wanted the same health benefits. The first salt health resort opened in Poland in 1939. During WWII, people took shelter in salt mines and caves and they, too, began showing remarkable benefits. Following the war, German Dr. K. H. Spannahel proposed using the Klyutert Cave to conduct a systematic experiment to confirm the medical effectiveness of underground environments. The results of his studies, along with the work of Hungarian geologist Dr. H. Kessler, laid the foundation of modern Speleotherapy. They wanted to document and prove there were health benefits associated with breathing air in the salt mines. Polish professor Mieczyslaw Skulimowski created an underground sanitorium in the Wieliczka Salt Mine near Krakow. He developed what he called subterraneotherapy to document the health benefits of patients exposed to air in the cave. Because of their work, salt therapy has become more and more popular.
SALT, The Natural Spa brings the halotherapy concept from the caves of Europe to the Tampa Bay Area. SALT, the business, creates a comfortable, relaxing environment designed for the entire family. Our high quality halo generator pulverizes and crushes 99.9% pure grade sodium chloride (salt) into micronized particles that are dispersed into the room. It works to aid respiratory issues and skin conditions. Every time you breathe, micro particles of salt penetrate deep into the respiratory system. It helps clean and kill the bacteria and fungus that causes colds, allergies, asthma, psoriasis, dermatitis, ear infections, eczemas, atopic dermatitis, cystic fibrosis and other conditions. We are offering therapy rooms for both adults and children. The Kids Play Zone is perfect for children of all ages. It is designed as a therapeutic environment that will help boost the immune system of the children, decrease mucus in the lungs, improve respiratory and skin conditions, all while they are having fun. The Kids Play Zone is stocked with educational and fun toys.

HOW DOES HALOTHERAPY WORK?
Dry salt absorbs foreign substances along its path through the respiratory tract. The salt removes built-up foreign elements that cause respiratory ailments. It helps reduce inflammation in the entire respiratory tract and expends the airway passages. A clean respiratory system naturally results in higher oxygen intake, increased energy and an improved immune system. This is one of the big reasons why athletes love halotherapy. The salt dissolves the bacteria and pollutants that have lodged in the respiratory tract. This allows them to be naturally expelled by the body.
